In 1955, the USS TELFAIR and crew starred in the movie, "Francis In The Navy" with Donald O'Connor, Jim Bakkus and Martha Hyer. Clint Eastwood had his first credited movie role in the film. David Janssen ("The Fugitive") also had a small role.
Actual scenes involving the Telfair can been seen at a point 28 minutes into the movie.

It's possible that a few movie scenes involving Telfair may also have been used in "Aweigh All Boats" filmed in 1956. The USS Randall (APA-224), also a Haskell-class APA, was used for most of the ship scenes in that movie, which was filmed in the Caribbean. It's a great movie to watch if you want to get an idea of what life on an APA was like. Interestingly, both Clint Eastwood and David Janssen also had small speaking roles in that movie -- Eastwood as a Navy medical corpsman assisting the captain after he is wounded and Janssen as a bridge talker. They apparently were regular "gator sailors" long before becoming big stars!
